Varicose veins

Varicose veins are veins which have become enlarged and entwined, thus causing improper blood circulation. Blood flows backwards causing the varicose veins to become further enlarged. Varicose veins are more common in women, with genetics, menopause, pregnancy and ageing considered to be major factors related to their onset. Chronic problems with varicose veins may results in swelling, skin thickening, and ulcerations.
